Summer Youth Camp 1 week Pottery on the wheel

Service Description

This is a great class for young people to be introduced to the fun of pottery on the wheel. We will meet for 5 days, three hours a day. Students will learn to center clay and form a cylinder which is the basis for other shapes. We will learn to make handles for mugs, apply decorating techniques, and use glazes to add color to our work. The week will be divided to work on the wheel and Hald building projects using coils to build sculptures or pots. Classes are small and designed for individual attention so that each student can develop skills in a relaxed environment. Ages 13-17. Meets on: July 13th through 17th 10:00 to 1:00. *Clay, 2 firings, use of glazes and slips and borrowing of pottery tools included. Students must bring: comfortable cloth that they don't mind getting clay on, an apron if you prefer, a small towel, short nails (long nails make molding clay on the wheel difficult), one 2 quart size buckets.
